Behind The Scenes
The Making of the Arctic Necklace
Preserving the art of craftsmanship is of the utmost importance at Northskull to create new jewellery designs. Utilising the finest materials to craft innovative pieces, the process of constructing a Northskull creation to ensure that the finished product is of the highest quality is the result of skilled artisans handcrafting each element with meticulous attention to detail.
With a unique design inspired by the Arctic, the namesake necklace involves forward-thinking construction. Each element is carefully made with precision to form the necklace. The first stage of the process is producing the spikes that surround the Arctic medal. These spikes are individually created using a mould, before they are soldered onto the sides and the face of the Arctic medal using a special technique. To make the 3D arrow in the centre, the arrow is folded from sheet metal in a technique called scorping and then soldered to the face to complete the Arctic medal. The next stage is making the arrow cut out medal, which is created by cutting the Northskull arrow emblem shape into circular disks. Once both elements have been crafted, they are then plated with black or white rhodium for a polished finish to give a luxe feel to the necklace.
The remarkable craftsmanship and luxurious metalwork demonstrates the exquisite quality of every Northskull piece, a true reflection of our mission to design and craft exciting new pieces for the discerning gentleman.
